How many men does it take to change a battery....
The culprit (beeping every couple of minutes)....
The REAL problem? It is 22 feet in the air...what Einstein decided that would be a good location? (probably me...I can't remember)
The Heroes? After standing in our entry room visiting and being occasionally interrupted be the annoying BEEP! Our awesome friend, Derek Friedan, shocked us by showing back up at our doorstep 15 minutes later with a HUGE ladder and three smiling, strong young men (his son Justin and his two friends, Justin and Jordan)!
After getting the ladder situated (not an easy task), Jordan bravely volunteered to climb the 20+ feet and change the battery.
The cover wouldn't stay on so next Justin and then Derek went up to get it to close.
It makes me dizzy just thinking about it! The cover finally closed and the ladder came back down. But first we all stood in the entry listening for several minutes just to be sure the beeping had stopped. Success! These guys are so great! Did I mention that this was the first evening of their Easter vacation? We love these guys!
Okay, so the funniest part of the whole adventure........about 15 minutes after they left, I suddenly heard a noise. We went into the entry and sure enough......BEEP!
We should have cried....but it was SO FUNNY! Well....someday we will drag the ladder back over here and change the battery....again. But for now, every time I hear that BEEP, it makes me smile - and reminds me what great friends we have!
**UPDATE**
After having Choir practice at our home - which of course was accompanied by a stream of BEEPS, our great neighbors across the street (the Sorensen's and their darling kids) knock on our door with another huge ladder in hand! This time we didn't mess around - we completely dismanteled the alarm - it will BEEP no longer! Don't worry, there are plenty of other alarms close by - just within easier reach! I wish I had a picture, but my battery was dead! I do, however, have a picture a friend took of the Sorensen's a couple of days ago at our Lemonade Stand! Thanks again - you guys are awesome!
