We celebrated Sky and Bo's birthday with our family the other day. Bo's present was a Toy Story game he'd been wanting for awhile. His excitement soon turned to tears when he noticed the box said 'Ages 6 and up'. He was devastated! He thought he would have to wait a whole year before he could open his game. It took some work, but we finally convinced him that he could use it now because he was a 'big' 5 years old! Too funny!
That weekend Bo had his first 'friend' party! (We do family parties until they turn 5 and then they alternate 'friend' parties and 'family' parties every other year)
Bo decided on a carnival theme with several different game stations (fishing game, water balloon toss, balloon stomp, and bean bag toss). His older siblings helped to man the stations. It was a bit windy, but the kids had a fun time!

Gavin has discovered his favorite sport - Lacrosse! Last year Gavin joined the Red Rock Lacrosse Team and he loved it! He was at every practice, but a few days after the first game, he broke his wrist at school and had to drop out for the whole season. Needless to say, he has been looking forward to this season for a LONG time!
It has been so fun to watch him play. He does a great job out on the field and has really enjoyed his coach and teammates. I have discovered that I much prefer watching Lacrosse to Football or Soccer. Of course it helps if one of my own kid is playing!
Great job Gav! Can't wait for next season!
We started off Easter weekend with the annual River Hollow Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast. Beautiful weather and wonderful neighbors made for a fun morning! We weren't here for it last year, so the kids were extra excited!

Later that afternoon, we all went to Grandma's for Easter dinner and another Egg Hunt with the cousin's. The weather suddenly turned ugly, so we had the hunt inside! Slight chaos - but definitely fun!

We loaded everyone up and headed to Salt Lake City for April General Conference Weekend. Skyler's parents were in from Russia and the kids hadn't seen them in months (the older kids 6 months and the younger kids 9 months). They were all so excited to see 'Faraway Grandma and Grandpa' as the younger kids call them!
It's always so nice to catch up with Mom and Dad. Bob and Minnie and their family were in town as well which made it all the more fun. Grandma organized an Easter Egg hunt for the kids in a large deserted hallway at the Marriott where they were staying. I think it's about the 3rd time we've done it there! That hall has become our hangout place every time we go. The kids will be sorely disappointed when the mall reopens and the hall has a constant flow of people!
This Conference was particularly special because Trey was able to attend for the first time and because Cort is now 12 and was able to go to the Priesthood session for the first time. The boys and Sky were able to go through the 'tunnel' entrance with Grandpa. They were able to meet Elder Nelson and Elder Andersen - how exciting (wish Sky had my camera with him)! They also had wonderful seats only a few rows back! Sky and Grandpa warned Cort it's not always going to be this eventful - but they sure enjoyed it!
We were sad to say good-bye. Sky and I knew we'd see them in about 6 weeks in Russia (that post to come). But the kids would have to wait until July - there were definitely tears from some of our more emotional children (i.e. Bo - if you look close you can see his eyes are all red).
It was well worth the trip - although next conference we may just take the older kids again!
We left Salt Lake Saturday evening and spent the night in Provo. The weather had been perfect Friday and Saturday - around 70 and sunny. What a surprise it was to wake up Sunday morning to this!
WOW! It was beautiful! The perfect (although cold) ending to a great weekend.
